PRINCESS SMARTYPANTS (Reader)

Princess Smartypants was a nice girl who did not want to get married because she enjoyed living with her pets. Her strange pets…

She was pretty, she was rich and she was very smart too. All the men of the world wanted to get married with her. But she preferred to live in her castle only with her pets.

One day her parents told her: ``you must get married!!´´.

Everyday there were many suitors in front of her castle. She was really upset and she had a great idea… ``If you want to be my husband, you must do some tasks that I will say! ´´, the princess said.

She asked to Prince Leo to feed her pets.

She asked to Prince Conall to a roller-disco marathon.

She invited to Prince Eoin to ride on her motorbike.

She called on Prince Scott to rescue her from her tower.

She ordered Prince Bobby to get her ring which was lost in the pond.

She told Prince Josh to take her mother shopping.

But nobody managed to perform these tasks. ``Bye Bye! ´´, said Smartypants, ``I´m saved! ´´.

But suddenly! The Prince Roland arrived!
He feed her pets…
He danced…
He rode on her motorbike…
And he rescued her from her tower.
He got the lost ring too…
And he took her mother shopping.

The Prince Roland did all the tasks but Smartypants was very clever and she gave him a kiss. The prince turned into a big toad! And the toad left in a big hurry!

All the suitors heard what had happened and nobody wanted to get married with her. 

So… Princess Smartypants lived happily with her fabulous pets in her castle! :)

The Way Back Home (adaptation)

 One boy was picking his bedroom and his toys when he found an airplane. He wanted to use this airplane to travel to the moon.


The airplane took off to the sky. Higher, higher and higher...

Suddenly the airplane made a strange noise... It didn´t have any petrol. He stuck on the moon.

He was alone and very afraid and he turned on his torch.

A Martian arrived at the moon too because his flying saucer was broken.

The boy heard noise and the Martian heard noise... They were very scared.
The boy and the Martian realized that they were in the same place at the moment because they had had a problem with their planes. They weren´t alone anymore.

Their planes had broken down. They needed repair their machines to come back home.

The boy decided to jump using a balloon to the sea. He swan to get home. 
Once at home he sat in a chair because he was really tired. His favourite program started and he was very comfortable.

Suddenly he thought... ``The Martian should be very sad and very scared! ´´. So he decided to help his new friend.

The boy climbed the mountain to reach the moon. Finally he managed to reach the moon and rescue his friend.
The boy repaired the Martian’s flying saucer and the Martian said bye bye. The Martian could come back home.

They were finally of the moon. Both come back home with their families.

FIRST WEEK AT COW SCHOOL





I have choosen this book because it brings me good memories. When I was little my mom read this book in Spanish. 

I have had the opportunity to travel to Ireland as a part of my degree for 3 months and after one month more to work as a tutor of a group of spanish students. 
I was walking through the streets of Dublin and saw this book in the window of a bookstore. It reminded me of my childhood and I bought it. So I wanted to share this book with the rest of the class.


This is a book a little tricky to read in a infant class. But I think that children who are 6 years old can understand the story if we look the vocabulary of the book at first. 

First would make a presentation of the characters.









She is Marjorie and she is a cow! 
Marjorie has a daughter...


....  Daisy!! Daisy is a chicken!!



Is her first week at cow school....






her teacher is Miss Gold-Top ... and here are her classmates. 
















And then I will tell the story with a big pictures.  

In my opinion, I believe it's a very funny story and children will enjoy a lot. It is a story with many pictures and colors that attract much attention from children. They are also very curious and funny characters.
I will realize a small adaptation to infant children to understand better the story. But I think for the pictures and the context they can understand it very well.

THE VERY HUNGRY CARTERPILLAR






ACTIVITIES - The Very Hungry Caterpillar. 



1. Whatch this video to learn the days of the week. 




2. Read the story: The Very Hungry Caterpillar. 


3. Watch a video about the life cycle of a butterfly.




4. Arrange the following drawings about the life cycle of the butterfly.


5. Draw your own butterfly and color it.


6. Match each animal with its corresponding food. Then color it.


7. Answer the following questions: What did the caterpillar eat on monday? and on wednesday? and what did the caterpillar eat on sunday?


8. Draw the following foods: a strawberry, an apple, a lollipop and a piece of chocolate cake. Color it.

Mr Page´s Pet Shop (Activities)



To introduce the story of MR PAGE´S PET SHOP we start with animal related activities. 

Introduction activity. First we will sit in a circle on the floor together and get back a different questions to introduce the topic of animals.


- Have you got any pet at home?

- Have you ever been in a pet shop?

- What kind of animals can be found in a pet shop?

The teacher also introduces the new pet for the class. All the children must look after the pet.  We will discuss our rabbit care needs. From my point of view is a very interesting activity for children to learn the importance of caring for animals having a real one in our classroom. 


Activity 1. We will listen to a song to help children associate each sound with your particular animal.

After hearing the song, the teacher will distribute differents animal masks. Each child should make the sound of the animal that he has had. 

For example... 








Activity 2. Then the class will be divided into groups to work together. They will perform an activity where children have some cards of animals and sounds and they have to match each animal with its corresponding sound.


Activity 3. We'll play a game on farm animals. The website is as follows:

In this website the children can learn the sounds of the animals which we can find in a farm. And the can also learn  some features of these animals.

Activity 4. We will listen a farm animals song for kids. 





Then we will do some activities related to animals and their food. 

Activity 5. I will introduce the topic of animals and their food for a video on the main needs of the animals. 




Activity 6. Children groups also have some cards of animals and cards of food. Children have to match each with its corresponding animal food.


Activity 7. Another interesting and motivating activity is to distribute to each group some foods and children should draw the animal concerned. For example a banana, then they have to draw a monkey. 


Mr Page´s pet shop: 

Finally we return the story of Mr Page's pet shop. I will tell the story with the help of children. Each group will make the sound of an animal. 
They will make the sound YUM YUM! if their animal likes this food or YUK YUK! if their animal does not like this food.

CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY

Charlie Bucket is a little boy who lives with his family in a tiny and poor house. In his home there are only two rooms and one bed for all of them. 

Charlie´s father is the only who has a job in his family. He works in a toothpaste factory. The Charlie´s family  don´t have enough money to buy a lot of food, for example they have always for breakfast bread and margarine, bailed potatoes for lunch and cabbage soup for dinner. The same everyday. So all of them have a horrible empty feeling in their tummies. 

Charlie is very hard-working and he tries to help his family but the only thing he wants desperately is chocolate. 

Every morning in the way to school he sees a huge Chocolate Factory and he can smell the chocolate. 
In his birthday he only wants one thing, a tablet of chocolate. His grand-father bought a chocolate´s tablet for Charlie´s birthday and all the family were eating it during the week.
